Teenagers, it’s not too late for summer jobs
If you’re between 15 and 18 and without a summer job, you may be in luck. Applications for the Ontario government’s Summer Jobs for Youth program, which is geared to youth who want to have their first job experience, will be available between June 4 and 13. The actual placement will depend on the employer but will last up to six weeks during July and August. You will also receive up to a week of paid training before the job starts, which may include life skills, job skills, job search techniques, resumé writing, and health and safety training, and up to a week of paid training and support after you finish your placement. In total, you will be paid for up to eight weeks. The pay will be $10.25 per hour for up to seven hours of work per day. Visit the office nearest to you (see locations below) to pick up an application.
