Save the Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefit

Friday, August 17, 2012

Come out and hear what activists are doing to reverse the Province’s decision to cut the Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefit by the end of the year. The public meeting will be held Aug. 21 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. at the Parkdale Public Library, 1303 Queen St. W. (at Cowan) in the basement auditorium. Losing this benefit will directly affect many people on social assistance including women trying to move from transition shelters into permanent homes after experiencing domestic violence and people trying to move from homelessness or a shelter into permanent homes.
