Live Tweet: Employment resources for newcomers

Calling all newcomers — this Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., poss.ca will be getting together with our community partners, OCASI and Skills for Change, for a special live Tweet on employment resources for newcomers. Follow the discussion at #immemp. We’ll let you know about the many great programs and services to help you prepare for the Canadian workforce. We’d love to take questions from newcomers. We’d also like to hear from people who know about an amazing employment resource for people new to Canada. Don’t forget to tune in next Tuesday at 11 a.m. to noon when our regular live Tweet session resumes. Note that our hashtag will be #posslive.

Wondering if the resources available to Newcomers in Ontario can be extrapolated for other provinces by the worker her/himself or Career Practitioners

Do I need to be on LinkedIn?

Question: 

I’ll be honest — I really dislike the idea of LinkedIn but everyone says that I need to be on it in order to increase my chances of finding work. I keep getting invited too — why does this continue to happen?! What’s your take on LinkedIn, and if I have to do it, how do I get started?
