The end is nigh

We at poss.ca are very sad to say that unless there is a dramatic change in events our employment website will be folding.

This September, Findhelp Information Services, the nonprofit agency that manages poss.ca, found out that the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) plans to cut the funding for Toronto’s online employment magazine. We are not clear when we will cease publishing, but we do know that March 31 is the last possible date.

We are looking at alternate sources of funding and have asked MTCU Minister Brad Duguid to reconsider his decision. Our letter to him, accompanied by the poss.ca 2012 Year in numbers, gives a picture of the type of service we provide to the community and the evolution of the project from a small English-only newsletter handed out in Toronto Employment & Social Services offices almost 30 years ago to a bilingual online magazine, visited each month by an average of 58,000 users from Canada and from 163 other countries.

We’ve enjoyed being a part of Toronto’s employment community and we all feel a sense of loss. But, at least for the time remaining, the team at poss.ca will continue to provide you with articles, tips and advice.

Your comments and feedback are more welcome than ever.

Katherine, Jowita, Céline and Ian
